Color Me Surprised

Not as surprised as last week's $120 million opening weekend for X3, but still pretty surprised. The latest piece of trite Hollywood garbage brilliant art to grace the silver screen--The Breakup--overtook last weekend's powerhouse for the number one spot. Never again will I underestimate bland, untalented actors that play the same character that they invented for the movie "Swingers" in every subsequent movie from Old School to Wedding Crashers. Also slightly surprising was Over the Hedge's victory over The Dumb-Vinci Code.

1. The Breakup, $38 million (my pick: #2, $25 million)

3. Over the Hedge, $20.6 million (my pick: #4, $11.1 million)
4. The Da Vinci Code, $19.3 million (my pick: #3, $16.2 million)
5. M:I 3, $4.7 million (my pick: #5, $6.3 million)
